The Indiana State Police is reminding motorists that individuals found to be driving while suspended or who are classified as habitual traffic violators will be charged with crimes if caught on Indiana roadways. Suspended drivers will be cited for a misdemeanor crime, and in some circumstances taken to jail. Habitual traffic violators will be taken to jail to face felony charges.

Troopers from the Redkey Post, which includes Randolph County, cited 774 motorists for driving while suspended and jailed 30 motorists for being habitual traffic violators.
The following are some of the violations that cause a driver’s license to be suspended:
• Failure to appear for a traffic violation,
• Failure to meet motor vehicle liability insurance requirements,
• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and
• Being a habitual traffic violator.
